Ordsall Rangers were formed in March 1995 by Paul and Anita Gregory after watching their eldest son Andrew become disillusioned playing for a local team.
Anita approached BRSSA re the possibility of using their ground. They were very accommodating and really keen to have a junior team as they already had a successful adult team. The team colours of Orange and Black were due to Paul being a Blackpool FC fan. The club name was chosen by the players which consisted of 11 boys aged 9 and 10 years. In the first season Sept 1995-96 ORFC entered one team the in Gainsbourgh TSB League at aged 11. As there was only one pitch at BRSSA (the front) all matches were played on this pitch and were 11-a-side. The tea bar was formed by a parent, who used to arrive with a wall papering table and an old Army catering flask full of hot water.
A second team of U10's (Ed's first team) was formed and played friendlies around the area again 11-a-side and the Club became to grow steadily from then on in an upwards direction with U10 being the youngest.
BRSSA agreed to do away with the cricket wicket at the rear of the pavillion and the second 11-a-side pitch was created.
In 1999, Jeff Price started a 2nd team from John Cooper`s under 10 side, at under 9, (this was then the youngest age group the club had and was before the introduction of Mini Soccer in 2002. When this was introduced we formed a working party, John Cooke, John Cooper, Ed Greg, and JeffPrice, and helped re-seed the ground between the front pitch on the rail ground and the tennis courts (car-park). Paul Gregory had some stainless steel goal posts made and we were away. Ed Gregory eventually formed his own team at U7's (now our U14's). Girls football also came to Ordsall Rangers through the initiative of Jane Cooke.
We continued to rent pitches from the rail club until only recently.
ORFC spent 2/3 years working toward achieving Charter Standard and this was granted in 16th August 2005 and successfully re-newed in January 2008.
In September 2008 a Limited Company for formed in order to enter into a 25 year lease with Notts County Council on the Ordsall Road Playing Fields.
In September 2009 the Club were awarded Notts FA Charter Standard Club for the 2008-09 Season.
